BBC Good Food Gives Bamboo Star Buy and Best Overall Rice Cooker 2018

We are incredibly proud to announce that BBC Good Food recently awarded our Bamboo Induction Heating (IH) Rice Cooker as their Best Overall Rice Cooker of 2018 and selected it as their Star Buy. Bamboo is fast becoming a well recognised premium rice cooker with unique features that produce the very best in rice cooking. At the top end of our award winning rice cooker Trio it excels in every cook function it has and we are happy and humbled that yet another top publication recognises the effort put into this exceptional rice cooker. Here is an excerpt from their analysis of their rice cookers tested.

At the premium end of cookers, the Bamboo matches its price tag in the quality of its build, attractive design and in its fluffy flavourful rice. Though made in China, the cooker is factory-built for the UK and Europe. The instant induction heat (IH) cooks the rice evenly through both the base and sides of the inner pot. It has a fuzzy logic microchip that makes adjustments in temperature and cooking time according to the programme selected and information from a thermal sensor.

Five out of the six rice cooking programmes produced effortlessly good results in testing. This included a GABA setting that’s designed to germinate brown rice to release gamma-aminobutyric acid (which is reported to have some health benefits). The Yumami setting for white rice uses phased temperatures to release sugars for sweeter rice and added a noticeable depth to the flavour of the rice during testing.

Bamboo Voted Best Rice Cooker 2018 By T3 Magazine

Our Yum Asia rice cookers continue to win awards and get great reviews. Mostly recently, Bamboo was awarded best rice cooker 2018 by T3 beating other brands such as Zojirushi, Sage by Heston Blumenthal, James Martin and Tefal.  There is more goodness to come, from BBC Good Food soon! Since being sent one of these, I have never eaten so much rice. It’s been quite the eye-opener. The Bamboo is Yum Asia’s range-topping device, and deploys a sizeable tech arsenal to justify its premium price. It also looks quite good, at least by rice cooker standards.

Cooking is via induction, the non-stick cooking bowl is very easy to keep clean, and there are programmes for every type of rice, as well as, slightly bafflingly, porridge. There are also slow-cooking programmes that can produce a more ‘yumami’ white rice and a supposedly more nutritious, definitely nuttier-tasting ‘GABA’ brown rice.

They wrapped up by giving us their number 1 position which we are immensely produ of.

Thank you so much for my Sakura rice cooker and the replacement steam basket. I’ve made fantastic long grain rice a few times, and also tried the vegan brownie recipe on the greedy panda blog, with great success. My friends couldn’t believe that it was a) vegan, and b) made in a rice cooker! Kudos to you guys as YumAsia for developing this rice cooker.

I really like this rice cooker. The short grain rice setting for sushi is very good – the texture of the rice is al dente and I can now cook my sushi whenever I want. The keep warm is very long, I haven’t used it for the full 24 hours, but have used it for 15 hours and the rice was just as nice as when first cooked. The brown rice setting is very useful because it usually takes so long in a pan.

Fantastic rice cooker, cooks rice perfect. I like the porridge for congee, I use the recipe in the manual and it was very nice. I am still to try the cake and yoghurt, but I will this weekend. I hope they are very nice too 🙂

Excellent rice cooker. Cooks white and brown rice very, very and the short grain rice is tasty too (need to adjust the water a bit). The rice tastes amazing and the ceramic bowl is great. We have tried a few recipes from the Yum Asia blog and have been really happy with how they turned out. The keep warm is brilliant, so when the kids are coming in at different times it’s so much easier to feed them. Thanks for a brill product

Well I’ve had my cooker for about 6 to 8 weeks now, and it is the bestest thing that I’ve purchased in a long time. I thought my Mum cooked the best rice for a long time, then sadly I’ve had to it for the last 18 year’s. But this machine is “PURE DEAD BRILLIANT, FAN BLOODY TASTIC I would recommend buy it now Contact me if you wish. Cheers John 20 out 10

Use this at least twice a day for porridge (when it’s not so hot weather!) and for rice. I love setting the timer and not having to mess when I get in from work. Great stuff 🙂

Don’t usually have much time to review stuff, but this is such a good product I felt YumAsia deserved it. Sakura is a must have kitchen appliance. It does hands free perfect sushi rice, perfect basmati rice (we do a biryani in it), perfect quinoa, perfect bulgur wheat, then holds it until you are ready to eat it. Can’t believe I’ve cooked for as long as I have and never had the joy of a really good rice cooker. All executed bob on by Yum Asia both from the slick website through to getting the delivery. I genuinely recommend.

The response to the launch of Yum Asia’s first premium rice cooker has been much much better than expected. In particular, the ceramic cooking bowl, modern MoTouch LED control panel and add on cooking features that are actually useful to people seem to be the main reasons why Sakura is proving to be so popular.  Ceramic coatings are becoming increasingly attractive in kitchen appliances because some people consider this material to be safer for cooking than Teflon and other non-stick coatings. Sakura’s 5 layer cooking bowl is made with this in mind and is durable enough to handle even the most demanding cooking.
